What Is Dip Powder?

Dip powder is a modern nail system that uses a finely milled coloured powder, a liquid base and an activator to create a hard, glossy manicure without the need for a UV or LED lamp. Instead of curing under light, dip powder hardens through a chemical reaction with the activator, which makes it a convenient choice for people who travel, work away from a desk lamp or simply prefer a quicker, light-free routine.

The Lavender Violets dip powder range is developed in the same spirit as our gel polishes: richly pigmented, gentle on the natural nail and long-wearing. Our powders are finely milled for a smooth, level finish, and our signature lavender and violet shades carry across into the dip range so you can mix and match with the rest of our collection.

Because the system is self-levelling, dip powder is often a great entry point for anyone new to at-home manicures. It forgives small application mistakes, builds a protective layer over weaker nails and gives you the option of a strong, sculpted overlay without using acrylic or hard gel.

Why Choose Dip Powder?

Dip powder has become one of the UK's fastest-growing nail trends for a reason. Here's what sets the Lavender Violets system apart.

💡

No Lamp Required

Skip UV and LED lamps entirely — ideal for travel, busy schedules and anyone who prefers a light-free system.

🛡

Protective Strength

Builds a tough yet flexible overlay that protects weaker nails, reduces breakage and helps natural nails grow underneath.

High-Shine Finish

A glossy top coat seals the dip powder for a glass-like, mirror shine that stays vibrant.

Up to Three Weeks

With correct prep, dip powder reliably holds for 21 days or more, often outlasting a traditional gel manicure.

🎨

Layer & Blend Shades

Easily create ombre, French tips and layered tones by mixing our pastel lavenders with deeper violets.

🌿

Gentler Formulas

Our dip powders are formulated without harsh chemicals, in line with our HEMA-free principles.

How to Apply Lavender Violets Dip Powder

The beauty of dip powder is its simplicity. With the Lavender Violets dip starter set, you can complete a full manicure in around 20 to 30 minutes. For a complete step-by-step walkthrough, see our gel polish instructions guide.

  1. 1
Prep your nails. File to your chosen shape, gently push back cuticles, lightly buff the nail plate and wipe with a dehydrator to remove oils.
  2. 2
Apply bond. Brush a thin layer of dip-powder bond to one nail at a time to help the powder adhere evenly.
  3. 3
Dip into powder. Dip the nail into your chosen Lavender Violets powder at a 45° angle, tap off excess and repeat for a second layer if you want deeper colour.
  4. 4
Brush & shape. Dust any residual powder with a soft brush and refine the edge if needed.
  5. 5
Apply activator. Paint over each nail with the activator to harden the powder.
  6. 6
Finish & seal. Buff the surface smooth, apply a second coat of activator and finish with the dip-powder top coat for a glossy, chip-free finish.

Our Dip Powder Shade Range

Our dip powder collection mirrors the tones you love from our gel polish line. Choose from soft lilacs and neutral blushes for a subtle everyday manicure, or reach for deep plum, aubergine and violet shimmer shades when you want something bolder.

Because dip powders layer effortlessly, you can build ombre effects by dipping into a lighter shade first and a darker one toward the tip, or create French tips with a crisp white powder against one of our signature lilacs.

Every powder is compatible with our liquid set (bond, activator and top coat), and you can mix and match between multi-piece kits to grow your collection at your own pace.

Caring For & Removing Dip Powder

A well-applied dip powder manicure needs very little maintenance. We recommend massaging a drop of cuticle oil around each nail daily to keep the skin and the powder's edge flexible. Avoid harsh soaps and acetone-based hand wipes between manicures — both can dull the surface over time.

When you're ready to remove dip powder, the process is similar to removing gel polish. Lightly buff the top of each nail to break the seal, then soak a cotton pad in acetone, place it on the nail and wrap it with foil for 12 to 15 minutes. The powder should gently lift away with a wooden cuticle pusher. Never force or peel the layers — always allow the acetone to dissolve the structure first.

After removal, buff lightly, wash your hands and apply a generous dose of cuticle oil followed by a rich hand cream. We recommend giving your natural nails a brief rest every few months, even though our formula is gentle, simply to support healthy nail-plate renewal.
